Joy To The World

We're all very happy little campers tonight. A little dazed and confused from so much good fortune and loving family but who would have it any other way. It is 9.30pm and the rest of my gorgeous family are fast asleep, partly as a result of a marvellous day and partly from 'sugar coma'.

I hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas Day and from my family to yours - Merry Christmas.

The Wireless Connection

Good

Whipped Ocean

Suddenly the shoreline north of Sydney were transformed into the Cappuccino Coast .. Foam swallowed an entire beach and half the nearby buildings, including the local lifeguards' centre, in a freak display of nature at Yamba in New South Wales .
One minute a group of teenage surfers were waiting to catch a wave, the next they were swallowed up in a giant bubble bath. The foam was so light that they could puff it out of their hands and watch it float away .

Whipped Ocean

Children play among all the foam which was been whipped up by cyclonic conditions

Whipped Ocean

Boy in the bubble bath: Tom Woods, 12, emerges from the clouds of foam after deciding that surfing was not an option
It stretched for 30 miles out into the Pacific in a phenomenon not seen at the beach for more than three decades. Scientists explain that the foam is created by impurities in the ocean, such as salts, chemicals, dead plants, decomposed fish and excretions from seaweed. All are churned up together by powerful currents which cause the water to form bubbles. These bubbles stick to each other as they are carried below the surface by the current towards the shore. As a wave starts to form on the surface, the motion of the water causes the bubbles to swirl upwards and, massed together, they become foam.
The foam "surfs" towards shore until the wave "crashes", tossing the foam into the air.

Whipped Ocean

Whitewash: The foam was so thick it came all the way up to the surf club
"It's the same effect you get when you whip up a milk shake in a blender," explains a marine expert. "The more powerful the swirl, the more foam you create on the surface and the lighter it becomes." In this case, storms off the New South Wales Coast and further north off Queensland had created a huge disturbance in the ocean, hitting a stretch of water where there was a particularly high amount of the substances which form into bubbles. As for 12-year-old beachgoe Tom Woods, who has been surfing since he was two, riding a wave was out of the question. "Me and my mates just spent the afternoon leaping about in that stuff," he said.
"It was quite cool to touch and it was really weird. It was like clouds of air - you could hardly feel it."

Human League - Don't You Want Me Baby

Please tell me you know every single lyric of this song! No self-respecting teen of the 80's doesn't. Watching this video again I was amazed at the insane amount of eye-liner that must have been used during production. And I don't remember Phil Oakey wearing red lippy which he obviously is. Still an absolute ripper of a song. Enjoy.

Just Because...

Just because .... you have left over Christmas fabric, doesn't mean you have to make everyone an individual stocking to hang on the back of their chair for Christmas lunch!!

Just because .... the local Video Shop is selling off their kids videos for $3.00, doesn't mean you have to buy ALL of them!!

Just because ....you bought chocolate fudge ice cream, does not mean you have to eat it ALL in one sitting!!

(the photo of this is just too disturbing!)

The Spirit Of Christmas is...

Your husbands wallet being stolen the week before Christmas, all your accounts frozen as the prick tried to access them, and the bank refusing to reinstate as said husbands name is really Alan and the only photo I.D. he has left says his name is James!!!

Why the hell don't we keep cash under the mattress any more?

Aaarrgh!

What the hell has happened to my photo header!!!!!
I can't fix it - HELP!!!

Spinning Around

I do realise how slack I've been on the posting lately. It is not through lack of things to write about but rather too much to boil down.

The truly depressing thing has been the distressing lack of adult Christmas functions and the overload of parties and events my bloody kids have been invited to. When did they become the cool ones with a packed social calender and we become the taxi service who are only invited as a means of getting Gidget and Moondoggie to events??? At this point I'm being extra nice to them because if they don't let us come with them we're stuffed - Thank god for my brother's wedding.

That was one event we had to be invited to (although I have my suspicions about that too as the kids got way more attention than we did). It was a fantastic night with the rain stopping just in time to make their garden a sparkling wonderland. Everyone had a ball, especially the bridal couple and festivities continued well into the dawn.

Thanks to everyone who wished me well with the reading. You'll be pleased to know I didn't stutter, stammer or fall over, although I did tear up a little in the middle which was not the best of timing. So now I have a sister-in-law on my side of the family which is great and helps swell our family functions to a grand total of 6 (plus the 2 kids).

I can't show you any snaps yet but here is the 'Circle of Love' as it was dubbed. Surfer Boy made it for them and they were married in front of it. I think we'll use it for kicking the footy through in the back yard!

We're off to an Australian/German GLUEHWEIN FEIER on Thursday so I'll let you know how it goes. (Finally a party we've been invited to!)
Good luck with pressie buying.
